Camden Palace, London - Tuesday 20th November 2001

Another band who had undergone many changes since the last time I had seen them, with only Ben left from the original line-up. When such a radical overhaul occurs, it perhaps isn't wise to carry on with the same band name, using songs written by the departed members, so therefore it was going to be interesting to see whether Remote Control could still cut the mustard. Opening with a blinding version of 'The Electric Kind' it would soon proved that they could.

Due to the nature of a set at the Palace, the band keep things short and sweet, with precious little new material threaded into the excellent stuff from their debut. However the one new song played fitted in perfectly with the likes of 'Fashion Police', 'Velveteen' and 'Superstar'. The new band aesthetic takes a while to get used to, with the new guitarist being just a bit too...well...masculine looking to pull out the glam-rock Manicsesque look, however the waif-like androgynous new bassist fitted in perfectly. Ben, as ever, was pouting with the best of 'em.

A rousing rendition of '1969' finished off proceedings - we can safely say that Remote Control are back.
