PRESENTS
The Borderline, London - Saturday 1st December 2001
The CherryKicks rock. They were my band of the night. It is
a major shame that they live up in Scotland because I would like to
see their evolution into a great band. They have strong songs, great
stage presence including half decent banter. I chatted to a few of
them afterwards and they seem really pleased. It was apparent that it the
best gig they have ever played. The sound was great in the Borderline
too. Always a bonus when the sound has no fuck ups, so kudos to the
sound guy. I also bought the CherryKicks single. I have listened a
few times and it is a good raw rock single. It will be cool when they
can get some more cash to produce a cleaner sound and add some of
their new songs. Check 'em out at www.cherrykicks.co.uk
Johnny Zhivago had another great show. But because I have seen a few
times recently I wanted something 'more'. They are a great bunch of
guys, and I just expect too damn much out of them. It was great
seeing them again and I recommend their CD to anyone who likes sleazy
rock and roll :o)
Plan A seemed in fine form. They did a bunch of songs that seemed
familiar (however loads of new stuff like 'LIC', 'Bandwagon Disco', and storming opener 'Raise The Flag' were played as well - Joe), but the rousing 'Hey Ho!' made me bounce like a loon. Kudos
to the crazy fan in the scotland rugby shirt. He danced really badly
but enjoyed himself so much it was infectious!!
So those who missed it missed out on a great show. So don't just sit
there, get tickets for next week and see one of the greatest shows of
the year. Hell, if I wasn't such a tightwad I'd buy all the FMH boys
a drink for doing what the Kerrang-fest has failed to do for years.
Rock on!
