The press release promises Rock 'n' Roll from the soul, and boy does Koozie Johns and his new band give a little gem of an album. Right from the album's opener "Love Tonight" you know that you're in for a good show, and the rest of the album sure as hell doesn't disappoint.

Koozie has a phenomenal voice, quite different from most modern singers. This is the first time he has shown off his vocal talents, one only wonders how he's managed to keep them hidden for so long. The single "Chemicals Dominate" is a cracking introduction to the band, a mid-paced good old fashioned rock song, with meaningful lyrics and a brilliantly delivered vocal track.

One of the good things about this album is it's variety, no two tracks from the ten sound the same. Going from fairly high paced rock ("Sweet Oblivion" one of the album's highlights) to heartfelt ballads ("Velvet Eyes") and everything in between, the band manage to create a sound totally different from everything else coming out just now, which is no mean feat, and on this occasion, a definite plus point.

"My Life" is a song which deals with issues that everyone has to deal with now and then and "Slow Down" is quite probably written from personal experience. The album's closing pair are also fantastically written songs, and are played so well by the band.

Koozie is an extremely talented song writer and with this release has made what may be one of 2002's best albums. It's just a shame it probably won't get the commercial success it deserves. And believe me, it does most definitely deserve it.
