And so we have the first release from Worcester's best (only?) export since that rather splendid sauce that makes the ultimate cheese on toast. One listen to 'Damned If You Do' makes it immediately apparent as to why they are our band of the month (at the time of writing). A classic rock n' roll ditty, invoking memories of Kiss (that dual-solo thang), The Clash (drumming straight outta Topper Headon's school of thought) and, almost inevitably, The Yo-Yo's.

Let's get it out of the way, everyone's gonna compare The B-Movies to Neil's old band - but, lest we forget, this was his original band, and his time away has improved the band no end. The only comparison between The Yo-Yo's and The B-Movie Heroes that matters is they're both fucking excellent rock bands, and even then B-Movies hold something of an edge by actually being able to sing properly. The ragged harmonies are smooth, the songs are more modern than the slick '50s quiff riffs of The Yo-Yo's. Witness 'The Image', a superb song that reminds you of the best things of 70's RnR with 21st century sensibilities.

Acoustic lament 'Can't Get High' finishes this 3-tracker, and to be honest is something of a weak link after the storming other tracks. It will not be long before the Yo-Yo's are a distant memory. Band of the month? Can't really argue with that.
