If the spotlight's bright enough you won't
notice the performers cowering in the wings as they wait for their cue.
And if the music's loud enough you won't hear as they line people up
against the urinals and gun them down...
Vicious Cabaret came together in Leeds, UK in 2003. Finding themselves
under-employed even by musicians' standards, the four-piece hooked up
via the miracle of the internet.
The band fuse cynical lyrics to a musical backdrop that runs from the
smooth to the abrasive.
'It's guitar music - beyond that, we'll leave it up to the journalists
and the music geeks to decide what sub-genre we fall into. We wouldn't
want to deny them that pleasure,' says frontman Steve Maloney, erstwhile
singer/guitarist with Johnny Zhivago.
In late 2004 the band recorded their debut
single 'Twilight Of The Idols' with producers Simon Humphrey (The Clash,
The Only Ones) and Pat Grogan (New Model Army, Terrorvision).
It's due for release in early 2005.
