The Roolettes were formed in
May 2002 and kicked off their career with a couple of tantalisingly wild
shows in Italy, before returning to their hometown of London to tighten,
excite and ignite with their raw rock n' roll sound, drawing on their
simple philosophy, determination and single minded desire to be as loud
and dangerous as possible. Short, sharp songs littered with riffs and
bittersweet lyrics created the buzz which has continued to get stronger
and stronger.
The band have now played well over 100 shows throughout the UK, Sweden,
Spain, Italy, Holland, Ireland & Germany, aswell as opening for the likes
of Dead Kennedys, The Damned, UK Subs, Young Heart Attack, The
Parkinsons, Green Hornet, The Wildhearts,
Electric Eel Shock, The Misfits & more.
In March 2003 the Roolettes
were finalists in the XFM Unsigned competiton, picked from over 1000 bands
and recognised as one of the best unsigned bands in the country... but
they couldn't stay unsigned forever and in October 2003, The Roolettes
signed a deal with Vinyl Japan Records. Their debut album was released in
March 2004 across Europe & Japan. In April '04 The Roolettes toured
Germany with Danko Jones & The Bronx, and followed that with
a successful headline tour of Holland. The band visited Germany three
times over the summer of 2004 to coincide with the release of a 7" single,
and have also recently toured Holland with The Misfits and Green
Hornet.
