From deep within the deviant slut heart of the UK (Birmingham?!) King Adora (named after a brand of, ahem, female pleasure devices) are here to steal your hearts and your girlfriend, pouting their way into the nation's hearts with their sex-fuelled rock n' roll.
The band formed in late 1998 when Matt and Martyn got together, hooking up with Dan via the classifieds and met Robbie at a Rocky Horror Party.
It takes some band to make A&R men travel to Birmingham, but King Adora achieved this remarkable act and before long were signed to the label owned by
The Bluetones, Superior Quality Recordings.
Their debut release was a limited double a-side 'Bionic/The
Law' on Superior Quality Recordings which impressed NME and Steve Lamacq particularly, paving the way for King Adora to take the UK by storm. Live dates supporting
Mansun and a performance at Reading and Leeds packing out the Evening Session tent only cemented the band's reputation as one of the UK's top live acts.
King Adora quickly became a band to inspire love, lust, and hatred in equal measures, a level of devotion amongst fans not seen since the glory days of the
Manics. Follow up single
'Big Isn't
Beautiful', complete with a video filmed in the window of Ann Summers across the street from the famous Astoria theatre (which the band would headline within a few months), opened paths to new fans and the launch party for the single was held in famous transsexual club Madame JoJo's in the heart of Soho - Suitably sleazy.
The band's first three singles sold out completely, and their debut album 'Vibrate You' smashed the top 30 earlier this year. The band recently jetted off to Japan for their first dates outside the UK. World domination beckons.
