In the wake of Honeycrack’s demise,
ex-Wildheart and Honeycracker CJ set about forming a brand new outfit hellbent on injecting the fun back into rock. A furious mix of punk and pop with a cheeky chappy twist was what the Jellys were from the outset. A string of infectious singles led up to their first album,
“Welcome To Our World” as the band’s
fanclub, “The Jellys Soft Centre” grew in size and final single off the LP,
Lemonade Girl made NME single of the week.
Comprising another ex-Wildheart, Stidi, on drums and Jeff Hately (ex of Wolfsbane and then Stretch) on bass, a second album was not long in the pipeline in the form of live set
“Big, Big Trip On A Pantomime
Horse” and following the explosion of an ever expanding Japanese
fanbase,
“Doctored For
Supersound” was unleashed upon the cynical, miserable and downright moody to wonderful effect - it made the people happy.
Following an apparent split (and much fan trauma and upset regarding said break-up) it appears the Jellies demise was nothing more than a vicious and cruel self-generating
rumour. Hearsay aside, it’s time to get Jellified as the band take off once more. In between CJ and Stidi moonlighting in the
Wildhearts, with Jeff and second guitarist Davey on board as always, are very much a going concern for putting a smile on your long face, for getting up and going to, for releasing the fun inside of you... and getting down and dancing to. How cool?!...Very. |
