Bobby Heavenly & Kid Fury met in 1996 whilst
working on a dredger on the Manchester Ship Canal [Salford UK], where
they made their living fishing for shopping trolleys, old bicycles,
corpses & used condoms. They met Satan G. one day when they phoned out
for a pizza delivery and he told them he had woken up one afternoon with
the ability to play the drums after eating an especially hot chilli
pizza. So impressed were they by this tale, Bobby H. & Kid F. ordered
the same recipe pizza. Bobby H. became a guitarist & Kid F. became a
bassist & to their amazement both of them had developed the ability to
sing like angels. So the band was born.
Now as
everyone knows a band needs a name, something catchy that will inspire
peoples' imagination, something they will never ever forget. Well! as a
work experience exercise Kid F. had applied for a placement at Cosgrove
Hall Productions which was the TV company that made the hit series
"Danger Mouse". They had a proto-type character developed for
the series called "Dog Toffee" so Kid F. borrowed the name
& was promptly kicked out on his ass.
Bored with life dredging the canal
& delivering pizza they decided that they wanted to fight in the
Rock 'n' Roll wars. So armed with borrowed equipment they mixed up their
influences which at that time included the likes of Elvis, Motorhead,
Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, The Smiths, Metallica, Damned, AC/DC, Pistols
& The Ramones.
After a handful of battles in the
desolate Manchester wastelands, and the gig-only cassette release of the
"Pull Out & Shoot" demos they joined an international
fighting force but soon found that they didn't fit in. The powers that
be didn't like their maverick tactics, the way they wore their hair
& uniforms or even how they handled the attacks on the unsuspecting
towns & villages. The Generals couldn't handle a unit with such
aggressive firepower & labelled them Outlaws.
After breaking away & forming their own Rock 'n' Roll resistance,
they strengthened the squad by recruiting The Hammer, an unassuming
character who had been in the employ of Manchester United Football club
as a hit man. After a couple of initial salvos, in the shape of the
Specification EP & the
Chrome Alley EP, they made their first long
player, The Future Of Rock N
Roll Is In Your Hands. The
first casualty suffered was Satan G who was captured & to this day
is still held prisoner by the enemies of Rock 'n' Roll. Satan's place
was filled by Memby Jago, an Indonesian who had been in the UK as a spy
for years.
After several campaigns on the home front Dog Toffee took the battle to
Europe & teamed up with a German operation called Radio Blast where
they released
Killer Rock N Roll. Unfortunately Memby's
orders were not to leave the UK so Angel [AKA. Phil Metal Jacket] took
up rearguard action on the drums & holds the position now.
2002 has seen heavyweight
collaborations with Andy Cairns [Therapy?] teaming up for a vocal
assault on the
Radio single & Jack Endino [Nirvana,
Soundgarden, Zen Guerilla, Supersuckers etc.] recruited to produce
the super powered Sacred Heart.
