Well, originally, Cousin Joey (or Amethyst) at the time, where a much
heavier band... We sounded more like Creed meets Iron Maiden.. hehehe...
After realising that we where never gonna be successful playing that sort of
Old School Music, we decided to make a few line-up changes.... One being
the singer.. And the other being the bassist. Myself, Tim, & Si are
basically the only original members and we all met through the same person
who was trying to get a band together... Neal (Singer) was the next person
that joined the band...
This is when Cousin Joey started to totally change.... Tim (drummer) was friends with
Neal in school... He knew Neal could sing and one day myself and Tim called him up to ask if he wanted to
have a go at singing for us... Good decision that was...
Next person into the band was Dan
Palmer (bassist).... Dan, before he joined Cousin Joey, was probably our biggest fan... We never once played a gig where he wasn't
there... Always wearing a self made Cousin Joey white shirt... As soon as
we found out that Dan could play bass, we knew he would fit right in... Since then, we have gone from strength to
strength...

Cousin Joey are catchy
upbeat emo, punk rock and have established a sound blending English
rock, such as The Wildhearts, 3
Colours Red etc. with the influence of new wave punk from the
USA i.e., New Found Glory. it is during Cousin Joey's
explosive live performances that the harder British sounds shine through
where a lot of whiney USA pop punk loses its edge. Still searching
for the elusive record deal, plans to tour as extensively as possible in
2003 are being drawn up as you read this...
Cousin Joey split in 2006. |
